Welcome to the Friends of the Campaign for BC Parks

British Columbia's provincial parks are an incredible natural legacy that have been protected through the efforts of thousands of people. They serve as crucial areas of protection for wildlife and habitat and valuable recreation for locals and tourists.


Lodges in Parks: Major Success of the Campaign for BCParks

In late summer of 2006, the BC government embarked on a proposal to have private hotels and resorts built in our Class A (Protected) Provincial Parks.

The Campaign for BC Parks worked hard to bring this to the public's attention. Through the efforts of people like you, our members and municipal governments, we are pleased to report that of the 10 parks where new lodges were proposed, the majority had no proposal submitted. In the other 3, the lodge proposal will be in an existing facility, or will have minimal impact.

Campaign for BC Parks.

The Friends of the Campaign for BC Parks is a citizen-led group that supports the initiative of the Campaign for BC Parks to stop the development of resorts and hotels in our provincial parks. Vicky Husband, a well known BC environmentalist, is spokesperson for the campaign. Read more under "About Us".
